Crocodiles - Adaptation

• Crocodiles are tough and robust, with incredible immune system, which enables them to sustain the most serious injures, such as missing legs or tails.
• All Crocodiles learn quickly and are able to adapt to changing situations. Crocodile catchers have to change the techniques, because it's impossible to catch a crocodile twice with the same trick.
• The Crocodile's capacity to deal with starvation is awesome: there are examples of individuals not feeding for a year. They remain active and capable of feeding, though desperately hunting. Being cold-blooded they convert their food to crocodile tissue with more efficiency than any other animal. A Crocodile's stomach consists of two chambers: to grind and to digest the food. The digestive system of Crocodile is the most acidic - it can digest bones, hooves and horns.
• The Crocodile's body temperature changes together with the environmental, some species can even tolerate frosts. They dig holes in the banks and retire there. It cannot be called hibernation, because they don't reduce their metabolism.
• The Crocodile's circulatory system is very sophisticated: a well-developed four-chambered heart is unique among reptiles.
• Newborn Crocodiles survive better, than other reptiles, 80-90% of their eggs hatch.
